LOS ANGELES – “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” opened with a with a whopping $110 million this weekend to easily blow away the competition at the box office, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

Director Tim Burton’s comedy/horror film is a sequel to his 1988 “Beetlejuice.” Both films star Michael Keaton as a ghost trying to marry someone in the real world and Winona Ryder as his love interest.

“Deadpool & Wolverine,” which has ruled the box office chart for most of its seven-week run, is finally showing signs of slowing down but still claimed second place with $7.2 million Friday through Sunday, Comscore reported.
